Intandem won the contract with the Australian Bureau of Statistics in 2006, 2011, 2016 and 2020 to design and manufacture the 35,000 custom designed unique bags required for all Census collectors for the Australian Census Collection.  The bags were custom designed by Intandem to meet the specific needs of the Australian Bureau of Statistics and their collectors.  Some of the bag’s requirements were especially supportive shoulder straps and detailed internal pockets to accommodate the census forms, etc.

The Australian Census Collection represented the largest non-military logistics and planning programs regularly undertaken in Australia.  We naturally had to demonstrate our high quality, effective process, and procedures as well as highly competitive rates.  We worked with the Australian Bureau of Statistics to develop and enhance the original bag tendered to ensure the final product fully met all Australian Bureau of Statistics requirements.  All bags were delivered to the Australian Bureau of Statistics ahead of schedule.

For the 2016 Census, the ABS also required a Personal Alarm for every Census collector.  Intandem won the tender to design, manufacture and supply 35,000 personal alarms to be delivered with the Census bags.

For the 2021 Census, the ABS also required 200,000 personal masks to be designed and manufactured to the ABS requirements and meeting all Australian standards.  We also supplied all 35,000 lanyards and ID passes, etc, as part of the full “kit” required for all Census field staff.
